Yom Hashoah

Shoah means catastrophe or utter destruction in Hebrew.  Yom Hashoah falls on the 27th day of Nisan marking the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.  It is the day of remembrance for all the victims of the Holocaust.

Every year SHJC commemorates Yom HaShoah in our sanctuary with a service and participation in the National initiative known as “Unto Every Person There Is A Name,” where our children from Kitah Dalet to Post Bar/Bat Mitzvah walk in with a candle and read a list of children’s names who perished in the Holocaust.

If you would like to have names included in the program, please fill out the form below or contact our youth director at youthdirector@shjc.org
